SV Kids Tri 2014

4 laps (100m), 2 miles on bike and 1/2 mile running.  My age (7-8 year olds) is 2 bike miles shorter than Cameron's.  I finished in the middle...162 out of 315.  In 28 minutes, 14 seconds.  I had some trouble in transitions.  I was in such a hurry, I got my bike...without my helmet.  And then when I tried to put my helmet on...I still had my goggles on.  And then I also forgot my shirt (with my number)...but I had to take my helmet off to get it on...It was kind of crazy.  Basically, I forgot.  But I finished.  And it wasn't so bad.  Just hot.

Happy to have Fuzzy watching me.

Last sniff before I go...

And we're off!

So far so good...

Oops...I can never swim backstroke straight...

Done with swim, now onto bike...

Okay, I found my bike...

Hmm...did I forget something?

Did I forget anything else?  Oh, my shirt and number...

Finally, I'm ready.

Cameron's there!

Sprinting to the finish!

Finally!

Hanging by the pool.

I've been going to swim lessons since mid-March....twice a week.  Mom's getting me ready for the triathlon in a few weeks.  I'm pretty much ready, but I've got to build up my endurance.

We get there a few minutes early...and I like to chillax

Triathlon Training

Last year, I asked Mom if I could do the triathlon this year, but only if I get some swim lessons.  Mom agreed.  Though, when it came time to sign up for the tri, I wasn't too confident and tried to back out.  Ha ha.  But, Mom said it would be good for me and that I'd get lots of swim training.  So...we started swim lessons.  Luckily, it's been pretty warm around here, so it's been nice to go swimming after school (twice a week).
My first lesson was pretty good.  I was actually able to swim the 4 required laps...1 freestyle, 1 backstroke, 1 freestyle and 1 back.  But, I did have to rest in the middle of the freestyle laps.  It's just a lot harder than the backstroke.  I have 2 1/2 months, so hopefully I can build up my endurance to do it without stopping!

Kids Tri!

I was super excited for the triathlon today....can you tell I still have my crazy rash?  It got a little bigger last night....and this morning, Mom wasn't too happy.  But I was so excited for the race today, no way was I going to miss it.  It's so fun!

Heading to the checkin line

Warming up our bikes.

In line and on deck.

So ready to swim!

Hi Mom and C!

Waving at C and Mom

This nice lifeguard offered me her floaty.....so of course, I accepted.
It was strange, I could hear someone yelling, "No, he can swim!  Really!"
There were lifeguards in each lane for all the 6 and unders.

Okay, now off to transition.  There's Dad on the left, ready to help me.
(A parent is allowed to help the 6 and unders)

Bike, check.  Helmet, check.  Shoes, check.  Ready to rumble.

And I'm off!

Coming back in....hope I can find my parking spot....and Daddy...

Now it's run time

Almost....there...

About the cross the finish....
