Chinese Level 1 Test

I had my evaluation for my chinese class.  I am in level 1, and we have to know 100 phrases.  Not writing, just recognizing and speaking.  We cover family members (Mom, Dad, big Bro, little Bro, big Sis, little Sis, etc), and then milk, juice, watermelon, banana, and pencil and crayon.  The list goes on and on.  Mom and Dad drilled me with flash cards for the last few weeks and it worked.  I passed!!!!!

Studying the words.

Here, I am reading, yes, reading the characters.

2nd tooth lost

In less than 10 days, I've lost 2 teeth!  Yikes.  Hope I don't lose anymore for a while.  I have a big hole in my smile.  This tooth was also loose for a few weeks, and it was barely hanging on.  But I was resistant to pull it out.  No thanks.  Of course, Mom insisted...it was almost laying down on it's side.  So with a few tears and some whining...Mom pulled it out.  And then I laughed because it didn't hurt at all.  What was all that fuss about, huh?  I don't know.

1 Baby Tooth down!

Our last night in Maui....I wiggled one of my two loose teeth...out!  Yup yup, lost my first baby tooth!

The grownup tooth is already peeking thru!
It looks like a fairly big space now cuz I also had a small gap there too.

Maui - Day 6

It's day 6 and frankly, we're getting tired of the beach...and well, we've got a few crispy spots....so we decide to rest and stay in...well, except for breakfast and dinner...

Back to the Sea House at Napili Bay for breakfast.  And we think, it's better than the Gazebo without the crazy wait.  Very yummy breakfast.

I picked a flower for Mommy

The view from our table.

Nice flower

Love it here.

Then back to the hotel for a lei making class!  Upper right is Cameron in "Maui Jail"....

Family Picture

A quick stop at Ululani's Shaved Ice.  Gotta try it.

What's buried under there?
We went to the Old Lahaina Luau with Uncle Steve and some other guests from the wedding.  We really wanted to see fire dancers, but we just saw a lot of dancers shaking their hips and knees.  Even the boys hula dance, but it was more like a knee shake.  Cameron and I enjoyed a few Pina Colada's too!

At the Luau.  We got another lei.

What?  It's hot and those guys are just walking around in the pit like it's nothing.  Yikes.

Do we look this this guy?

Checking out the goods

Time for more steak.

Some desserts.

With Auntie Jen and Uncle Steve!

Of course, no night would be complete without some night swimming!

Maui - Day 4

We decided to try to hit Kaanapali Beach today.  Dad said there was a big black rock there that people dive off of.   Crazy, right?  We had to drive, since it's outside of the Kapalua resort area.  Parking at Kaanapali was expensive and hard to find.  It's a very long long beach, with extremely hot sand.  Like it could burn the bottoms of your feet it's that hot. MUST WEAR FLIPFLOPS!

While we waited for Dad to bring the car around,  I played hide and run...from Mommy!

Oh.  She caught me.

Here's our tent set up.  Mom made this funky contraption.  She saw something like this on Pinterest.  It was under the DIY section, but that link just led her to something to buy....and she did not want to buy. So using one of our old play houses....she made this.  You can see that when we set it up, (middle left) it looked great, and was perfect for little old me.  But...when the wind blew...it didn't look so nice.  Oh well, we still had free shade.  Other people just laid out in the sun, or had to rent umbrellas. And did I mention that the sand is crazy hot?  The guy that helped us with our paddleboards later mentioned that he would sometimes get blisters if he didn't wear his flip flops.  Man, that's hot.

Some of the fish that Cameron saw underwater

Here's Mom doing Stand up paddle boarding.  Dad got some pictures of her actually standing up...which I told Mom NOT to do.  After a few minutes...she fell in, bringing me with her.  After we got back on, I reminded Mom not to stand up anymore.  I told her so.

After a little more beach time, we headed back to Napili Bay for some Pupu's at the Sea House.  We heard that from 2-5, they have half price pupu's (appetizers), so we went.  And it didn't disappoint.

Our favorite little beach, again.

The cocktail flag is out...It's Happy Hour Time!

What should we order?

Let's see...Wings, tuna poke, ribs, crab cakes, polynesian salad....yum!

Later, we went to the rehearsal dinner out by the airport.  It was at the Dunes Golf Course. Uncle Jason and Cameron had matching outfits!  Auntie Yvonne sure likes to call me "lang ji".  Uncle Steve and Auntie Jen.  And that's Cameron showing his dance routines to Uncle Milton and his wife.  They were impressed.

Maui Day 2

Our first full day in Maui.  It's Monday.  Getting up a little early (still on west coast time), we head to Napili Beach.  We get dropped off at the Sea House, but head over to the Gazebo Restaurant for breakfast.  It's just on the other side of the beach and they have yummy pancakes.  Unfortunately, EVERYONE thinks the breakfast is good, so the line and the wait is long.

While Dad stands in line, we explore the beach and the tidepools. We also saw whales while waiting for breakfast.  How cool is that??

I wrote names in the sand.

Yes, we are almost there.  Next in line.  Thanks for standing in line, Daddy!

Mom and her giant hat.

Nice view from the table.  Right behind Cameron's head is where the whales were.

Gazebo.

I found this crazy starfish thing in the water.

Nice sandy beach and gentle clear waters.  We loved Napili Bay and came back several times.

Back at the hotel for a quick lunch before our class.  This was the only time we ate at the hotel because it was pretty pricey and the food wasn't that great.  But we were in a rush, since Mom had signed us up for a class at the Cousteau center.

POG (Passion Orange Guava) is the best.

Walking down to the Cousteau center.

Part of the hotel

With the other two kids in our class.  Fires of Pele.  We learned about the volcanos and how Hawaii was made.  And we had fun making a volcano!  It was about 3 hours, so Mom and Dad went to run errands.  They picked up some groceries at Safeway for light breakfasts and some floaty tubes for snorkeling.  And they checked out the local mall.

Standing on Maui on Maui.

At DT Fleming Beach, we went to work making our very own volcano .  This was pretty darn fun.

Meeting Loco and Moco

I really wanted to pet them.  So cute!

Later, we went to hang out in the kids rec room up in the hotel and we're running back to the center to greet Mom and Dad.

Playing some bball

Went into town (Lahaina) to check out the sites.  Not a whole lot, just shopping and the banyan tree and the shaved ice!

This is some tree.

We're not allowed to climb it, otherwise, we'd be all over it.

Hmmm...was it the best?

Wow.  It looks really big, but its not really.  I mean, it's just ice.

Lahaina

Then we went to dinner at Kahana Grill.  It was so so.  We wouldn't want to go back, but at least we didn't have to wait.

We return to the hotel to find dessert for us and Mommy and Daddy.  Thanks again Auntie Terrie for the fondue.  I love chocolate!
