Berlin Feb 2017

Dad had a work thing in Berlin during our "ski week" break/Presidents Week and Cameron didn't have any dance commitments...so we ALL went to Berlin with Dad.  It was a pretty short trip, only a week, but we had a great time and made the most of it!

In Frankfurt waiting for our connecting flight

We stayed near Potsdamer Platz.

The Ampelman

In front of our hotel

At the first dinner....I had to try it.

The hotel gave us pineapple sticks as a treat.  They also gave us cookies, but we gobbled those down.

The wall.

In front of the Konzerhaus Berlin at the Gendarmenmarkt....we were wandering around before our chocolate class

Mom signed us up for a chocolate making class at Rittersport Chocolate...it was okay.  First, the class was in German...though she did eventually realize we didn't understand and then spoke English...and 2nd...the class was for little kids...and Cameron was a little annoyed.   Ha.  Oh well, we got to make 2 chocolate bars with whatever toppings mixed in.

At Rausch Chocolates...having hot chocolate and fondue.  Very very dark chocolate.  Whoa.

Checkpoint Charlie

Funny little cars.

Part of the wall at the Topography of Terrors.

Walking to the Deutsch Technik Museum

Potsdamer Platz at night...and raining a little

Breakfast - it was buffet and included with the room!

Alexanderplatz

Titus - skateboard shop...we just had to visit.

Hackescher Markt

Well, what do you know?  Another Titus store!

Ka De We...it's too big.

We had a pretty good dinner here.

Jewish Memorial

Brandenburg Gate

Inside the Reichstag....even though they remodeled the building b/c it was bombed....they saved these charcoal writings...Russian soldiers wrote messages.

The dome.

At a mall called Bikini Berlin...it backs up to the zoo and in those rocks are monkeys...I think they all ran for cover because it started to rain.

Our breakfast was so big that the 3 of us (Dad was at work) usually had an afternoon snack....this was currywurst and fries...but it was raining...oh well.

At Markthalle Neun...a food market.  On Thursdays, they do dinner...foodtruck style.

At the Pergamon Museum....at the gates of Ishtar.

Our last day in Berlin...was freezing.  It even snowed a little.

Berlin Train station

Did your Mom tell you about an incident at Ka De We (1990)-we were shopping there and a young man kept looking at her and following us and finally your mom told me in Chinese there's this guy following us. Sure enough I saw him too and he came over to ask me if he could buy your mom a cola. I said Thank You but no. He followed us to the top floor cafeteria and saw Kungkung waiting for us - he disappeared! Your Mom was freaked out that time!
